Doctor Course |
| In 1955, this course started with five fields of specialization: Physiology, Pathology, Social Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. We started the Medical Sciences Master Degree in 1979 and an affiliated Graduate School in 1994.
In 1997, the three-year plan rolled-out restructuring the Graduate School of Medicine with seven fields of specialization: Medical Biosignaling, Bioregulatory Medicine, Advanced Biomedical Applications, Molecular Medicine , Biosystem Medicine, Social Medicine, Interventional Medicine. In 1988, the Health Science Master Degree was founded and in the same year, the school was renamed to Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine.
In 2000, the Health Science Master course was changed to a doctor course. In 2001, the doctoral program in Advanced Biomedical Applications and Biomedical Education and Research Center had grown to Advanced Medicine.
In 2005, the current seven fields of specialization were reduced to five: Division of Physiological Science, Division of Pathophysiology and Therapeutics, Division of Preventive and Environmental Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine, and Division of Surgical Medicine. |
PURPOSE -----
Fields of specialization are offered to assist individuals to obtain both basic and knowledge and high-level research capabilities in support of their future independent research activities.

School of Allied Health Sciences |
The School of Allied Health Sciences accepts 160 students as a result of screening tests of students newly accepted to Osaka University: 80 for the Course of Nursing, 40 for the Course of Medical Physics and Engineering, and 40 for the Course of Laboratory Science. During the first one-and-a-half years, they fulfill core requirements (general education subjects) and major subjects in the educational facilities common to all departments and schools of Osaka University before taking major subjects in the School of Allied Health Sciences.
Furthermore, since 1997, 10 students from the Course of Nursing (5 for the Course of Medical Physics and Engineering and 5 for the Course of Laboratory Science) are selected through the junior-year transfer test to transfer them to the respective departments during their junior year.
The maximum number of students (junior and beyond) is 180 per year for specialized education. |
