Glycoproteomics and Related Disorders
Mass spectrometry is currently an indispensable method of identifying proteins,
and is expected to contribute the analysis of glycan structures. The activity of this laboratory focuses on
the development of new MS-based technologies including a novel laser
desorption/ionization platform and a systematic method for glycopeptide
analysis. Utilizing these techniques, this laboratory has launched a program
for the molecular diagnosis of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), an
expanding category of the inborn errors of N-linked, O-linked and other glycan
formation.
Placenta and Early Pregnancy
Placental development and maintenance and the pathogenesis of pregnancy
failure are other topics of our laboratory. The molecular mechanisms underlying
trophoblast invasion, uterine receptivity and trophoblast cell fusion are the research
target to decipher these early gestational issues.
