The project has been conducted with funding from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the success in animal experiments, last year, the Sawa group submitted a clinical research plan to used cells manufactured from iPS cells to treat patients with heart disease. Due to the nature of the therapy, the plan was categorized as class I (high risk) regenerative medicine.
