Please tell us about your progress to date.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

\n After graduating from Kobe University, I did my initial and post-graduate training at Toyonaka Municipal Hospital. When I was a student, I wanted to study cardiology, but as I progressed through my training, my interest broadened to include neurology and gastroenterology, and I ultimately chose gastroenterology because of its high level of activity and endoscopic procedures.
\n In 2015, I joined the Department of Gastroenterology at Osaka University and entered graduate school to further deepen my expertise while providing medical care and endoscopy at Osaka University Hospital. In graduate school, I worked on basic research on how lipid metabolites are involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and summarized these results to obtain my Ph.
\n After receiving my degree, I have been involved in both clinical and basic research on IBD while continuing to practice. I am committed to the cycle of bringing back to research the questions that arise in clinical practice and returning the knowledge gained from research to medical practice.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

Please tell us about your reasons for joining the Bureau.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
\n
\n During my training at Toyonaka Municipal Hospital, I experienced a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases, but as I was deeply involved in the treatment of enterocolitis in particular, I became more interested in understanding more about the mechanisms behind the pathology. I felt that I would like to use research to unravel aspects of the disease that are invisible only in clinical practice, and I began to consider pursuing IBD research in graduate school in the future.
\n I was also strongly attracted by the clinical skills and patient-oriented approach of the doctors who taught me at Toyonaka Hospital, and I naturally thought, \"In this medical office, I can deepen both my clinical practice and research.
\n I decided to join the Department of Gastroenterology because I felt that it offered both the desire to study IBD in depth and an environment in which I could continue to do so for a long time.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

Tell us about what attracts you to gastroenterology.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
\n
\n Gastroenterology deals with a wide range of fields and can be involved with a wide range of patients, from acute to chronic, from benign diseases to malignant tumors. The fascination of endoscopic and other procedures is also a major attraction, and the more you continue to learn, the more new discoveries you will make.
\n In terms of research, there are many areas that I can deepen according to my interests. I am particularly interested in IBD, and have been engaged in research to investigate the pathophysiology from the viewpoint of lipid mediators. I find it rewarding to be able to link questions I have in clinical practice to my research, and to return the knowledge I have gained from my research to medical care, which is unique to the Department of Gastroenterology.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

What can you tell us about raising children while working?<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
\n
\n I gave birth to my first child while in graduate school and to my second child after receiving my degree. I was anxious about balancing research and clinical work, but with the support of those around me, such as adjusting my research hours and returning to work in stages, I was able to complete my degree and return to work without difficulty. Today, while balancing work and childcare, I continue to improve my endoscopic skills in addition to my medical practice and research. There are many doctors in the medical office who are raising children, and there is an atmosphere of mutual understanding of each other's situations. I feel that one of the major attractions of the Department of Gastroenterology at Osaka University is that it provides an environment in which I can cherish my family and personal life while honing my expertise.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

\n The image you had when you were a resident and the feeling you get when you actually work there can change dramatically. I am truly glad that I chose gastroenterology.
\n People who like manual procedures, people who want to challenge themselves with research, and people who want to have a range of ways to work.
