Achievements
After earning MD degree, YW started on the mass spectrometry of hemoglobin variants in collaboration with an instrumentation group in Osaka University and established the strategy in 1981. In 1991, YW unraveled the molecular pathology of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation. With these achievements, YW pioneered in the introduction of mass spectrometry to disease-related proteins, with respect to amino acid substitutions and post-translational modifications.
YW has been studying fundamental technologies of mass spectrometry and contributing to the mass spectrometry community as well.
