{"id":1329,"date":"2017-10-12T13:45:47","date_gmt":"2017-10-12T04:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.osaka-u.ac.jp\/pub\/mds\/?p=1329"},"modified":"2024-03-18T10:31:35","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T01:31:35","slug":"1329","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.osaka-u.ac.jp\/pub\/mds\/archives\/1329","title":{"rendered":"Epitranscriptome m6A writer METTL3 promotes chemo- and radioresistance in pancreatic cancer cells (Int J Oncol, in press)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Epitranscriptome m6A writer METTL3 promotes chemo- and radioresistance in pancreatic cancer cells (Int J Oncol, in press)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology, Osaka University, Taketo, et al. investigated\u00a0<\/span>a Epitranscriptome\u00a0N6-<wbr \/>methyladenosine (m<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">6<\/span><\/sup>A)\u00a0writer,\u00a0methyltransferas<wbr \/>e-like 3 (METTL3),\u00a0and showed the significance in\u00a0chemo- and radioresistance in pancreatic cancer cells.\u00a0Given that\u00a0m<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">6<\/span><\/sup>A is the most abundant epitranscriptome modification in mammalian mRNA and recent years have seen major progress in\u00a0m<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">6<\/span><\/sup>A\u00a0epitranscriptomics, the present study indicates as tumor biology its crucial roles in initiation and progression of cancer through the regulation and mechanism of RNA stabilities, mRNA splicing, microRNA processing, and mRNA translation.
