The mutated\u00a0forms of IDH1 and IDH2 produce an oncogenic metabolite,\u00a0D-2-hydroxyglutarate (D2HG).\u00a0We\u00a0computationally analyzed gene expression\u00a0in colorectal cancer (CRC), and identified novel sets of\u00a0genes that are associated with patient survival. The study of\u00a0OxPhos-related genes revealed that an imbalance between the\u00a0expression of IDH1 and IDH2, defined as\u00a0over expression\u00a0of\u00a0one isoform in relation to the other, was associated with worse\u00a0prognosis in CRC patients. This effect was accentuated\u00a0by reduced expression of the\u00a02-HG-inactivating\u00a0pathway.
