(Cancer Sci, 2015)<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with the Department of Surgery, Osaka University (Profs. Masaki Mori and Yuichiro Doki), Noguchi et al. studied\u00a0the susceptibility of pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) to reprogramming. Given that\u00a0previous reports have indicated that reprogramming technologies may be useful for altering the malignant phenotype of epithelial cancer cells,\u00a0the study may be useful for extensive modification of malignant features of pancreatic CSCs. The\u00a0study\u00a0focused\u00a0on\u00a0c-Met signaling, which has been identified as a marker of CSCs.\u00a0The present\u00a0study indicates\u00a0that\u00a0cells that expressed high levels of c-Met showed\u00a0 higher CSC properties, such as tumor-initiating capacity, \u00a0and resistance to gemcitabine.\u00a0Although\u00a0further studies are necessary, it\u00a0suggests the novel\u00a0approach\u00a0may be possible for cancer cell\u00a0reprogramming\u00a0.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Susceptibility of pancreatic cancer stem cells to reprogramming.
