Osaka University Hospital Speaks at Third Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety

The Third Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety was held in Tokyo last April 13 and 14. Representatives from 46 countries and 6 international groups including the World Health Organization (WHO) attended.

The first day included lectures and a panel discussion about how to lower the risk of medical accidents. Representing Osaka University at panel discussion about ICT (information and communication technology) was Professor Kazue Nakajima, who runs the Department of Clinical Quality Management,  a national leader in patient safety. She highlighted efforts at Osaka University Hospital to integrate different systems for a comprehensive approach to reduce patient risk.

On the second day, Tokyo Declaration was adapted to promote efforts of different countries to reduce medical accidents.
