Education
We believe that only education can change people. We are conscious of fostering people who will encourage the next generation paradigm in gerontological and geriatric nursing in undergraduate, graduate, and in-service education.
We nurture human resources who are capable of free and flexible thinking and deep insights that are not bound by existing frameworks.
Gerontological and Geriatric Nursing Subject Theory (2nd-year undergraduate student)
Students will learn to understand the physical and mental aspects of aging, the impact of population aging on the community, and issues in the medical and nursing fields.
Guest speakers will include professionals from around the country who will discuss the importance of family nursing care for the older people, care for health issues common among the older people such as dementia, Excretion, and dysphagia, as well as infection control in care facilities for older people.
Gerontological and Geriatric Nursing Practicum (3rd-4th year undergraduates)
In medical and nursing care settings with the older people, students will develop a nursing plan and practice from the perspective of a person living with a disease or disability, giving full consideration to the individuality of the subject and the need for nursing care based on the situation. Students learn about community cooperation with a view to home care and deeply consider the role of the nursing profession. Students learn about the attitude as a healthcare provider toward patients in the final stages of life.
※Contents to be studied in advance for gerontological and geriatric nursing practice (please read this page carefully before coming).
Integrated Nursing Practicum I
This course provides hands-on learning of oral care and suctioning. Students pair up with other students to provide oral care to those with dry mouth and understand effective oral care along with physical assessment.
Integrated Nursing Practicum II
Clinical practice will be conducted at the same facility as the gerontological and geriatric nursing practice site. One student will be assigned to each ward and learn the role of the nurse through shadowing the supervising nurse and physical assessment. Students learn and deepen their understanding of the role of the nursing profession in multidisciplinary cooperation, how to prioritize, timing of care, and other patient-oriented time management and information management in a practical format.
I am in charge of Nursing Research Theory, Advanced Nursing Practice Development Science II, etc.
Nursing Research Theory teaches students about evidence generation and implementation of evidence.
Advanced Nursing Practice Development Science II teaches the theory and development methods of immunological verification methods of nursing care based on EBM. Students are exposed to the activities and thinking of top-runners in each field, and deepen their own research on their own nursing practice.
Case study & literature study meeting (once a month, held on the 3rd Friday of the month from 7:00 p.m.)
Students learn research methods for nursing care based on EBM (Evidence-Based Medicine) through the critique of English articles related to their research topics with staff from clinical sites (home health care nursing stations).
In addition, lectures for caregivers, medical staff, and local government officials are held as needed as part of in-service education.
We nurture human resources who are capable of free and flexible thinking and deep insights that are not bound by existing frameworks.
