Proposal for the revision of the ethical guidelines for human genome research
Our research group (Genome Science and Society Unit (GS Unit) of the MEXT Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas “Platform for the Promotion of Advanced Genome Research”) has held ”Human genome ELSI meetings” (referred as “ELSI meetings”) as a contact activity between advanced medical science research and society.
In our activities, we held web surveys and workshops to bring the opinions of people in the field involved in human genome research and review by ethics review committees to the activities to revise the guidelines in 2019, and prepared a proposal summarizing what we would like to see reflected in the revision, which we submitted to a government committee.
