- Summary of this article：This study examined whethercoronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) affects diabetic retinopathy in people with diabetes. Using Danish registry data, the authors found that CABG did not increase the short- or long-term risk of developing or worsening diabetic retinopathy. However, patients who underwent CABG were less likely to show long-term improvement in their eye disease. Overall, the results do not support adding extra postoperative diabetic retinopathy screening only because CABG was performed.
- 論文の要約：この研究は、南デンマーク大学との共同研究で、糖尿病患者さんで冠動脈バイパス術（CABG）を受けることがその後に糖尿病網膜症のリスクを高めるのではないかという仮説について検証したものです。結果として、CABGを受けた後に短期・長期で糖尿病網膜症の新規発症や悪化のリスクは高くなってはいませんでした。一方で、網膜症が改善することもありませんでした。以上より、CABGを受けたことだけを理由に、術後の眼底検査の頻度を増やす必要性は高くないなど眼科診療への示唆を報告しました。
