- Summary of this article：Using more than 9.2 million spectacle prescriptions from across Japan, this study examined how astigmatism differs by age, sex, and region. Astigmatism increased with age, and the axis gradually shifted with aging. Men showed slightly stronger astigmatism than women, while regional differences were small. Most people had similar astigmatism in both eyes. The study shows that large prescription databases can help reveal nationwide patterns in vision and eye health.
