- Summary of this article：How near-sightedness develops with age in Japan was unclear at a large scale. Using spectacle-purchase records of about 4.5 million people aged 6-35 from 434 optical stores (2021-2023), researchers mapped refractive errors by age, sex and region. Myopia progressed fastest around age 7 (about -1.1 dioptres per year), slowed through the teenage years, and stabilised near age 30. Severe myopia affected 1.3% of children under 10. Early surveillance from ages 6-7 could help limit progression.
- 論文の要約：大規模な眼鏡購入記録日本人の近視が年齢とともにどう進むかを調べた研究です。全国434店舗の眼鏡購入記録から、6〜35歳の約452万人の度数データを分析しました。近視の進行は7歳ごろが最も速く（年に約-1.1D）、10代で緩やかになり、30歳ごろに安定しました。10歳未満の子どもの1.3%に強い近視の度数の眼鏡購入がみられました。6〜7歳からの早めの経過観察と対策が、進行を抑えるうえで大切と考えられます。
