In recent years, the need for ‘Extending Healthy Life Span’ has been emphasized in order to enhance the vitality of society and the economy, and the government has promoted disease prevention and health management efforts based on ‘The Healthcare Policy’. To make these happen, collaboration with much more variety of companies than even before is being required.
In addition, the future medical care must evolve toward highly fusion of cyberspace and physical space as represented by the concept of Society 5.0. For that purpose, to utilize AI and develop telehealth are necessary. On the other hand, reliable ‘Manufacturing’ that supports them is similarly important. Since established in December 2015, the Strategic Global Partnership & X(Cross) Innovation Initiative has been promoting Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration to challenge such social issues.
Universities, which are great wealth of knowledge, have vast quantities of research results in the field of healthcare that create innovation. However, with conventional collaboration, we had many difficulties in leading these results to the creation and practical application of innovative innovation. Therefore, we believe that universities and various institutions construct a system to create open (cross) innovation satisfying each other's needs and seeds is an important issue. To achieve this, we have signed Partnership Agreement with Finance, Pharma, Electric, Construction, ICT, Advertising, universities, and the government. Besides that, we have been successfully collaborating with a variety of companies and organizations for working on research & development activities and planning of collaborative projects based on the well-organized system named ‘Collaborative Institutes’.
World Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka, Kansai under the theme of ‘Design Future Society for Our Lives’ and become a platform for discussing the future society. At the same time, the new Outpatient Clinic of Osaka University Hospital will be opened. To Osaka University and Osaka lead future medical, we will keep on creating new open (cross) innovation by promoting R & D activities through trying to link Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University and Osaka University Hospital with the government and various institutions.
