Message
When I was young, I was fascinated by endoscopic practice, and in graduate school, I was drawn to basic research on the liver. Through my study in the United States, I met many doctors and fellow researchers whom I respect and admire. After returning to Japan, I realized anew the importance of translational research in the clinical classroom, and up to the present, I have conducted a number of collaborative studies with many doctors throughout Japan and the world.
Gastroenterology is a truly broad and deep field, full of various fascinating aspects. We hope that many young doctors will use our department as a starting point and spread their wings in their own paths.
