Summary
Toshihide YamahsitaAs a group leader in recent several years, I have conducted and directed research on regeneration of the central nervous system. Specifically, I have explored the function of the p75 neurotrophin receptor, and found that the receptor regulates axon outgrowth in response to myelin-associated glycoprotein as well as neurotrophins through regulating the activity of small GTPases. These findings are expected to open the door for the development of new strategies to promote regeneration of the nervous system.
