紹介文：

Victor L. Perez 教授は、眼組織移植および再生医療における免疫応答制御を専門とする国際的第一人者です。角膜移植、角膜輪部幹細胞移植、網膜移植、人工角膜などを対象に、移植片の生着・拒絶を規定する免疫機構を、眼を免疫特権臓器モデルとして解明してきました。
特に、高リスク炎症環境における血管新生や神経‐免疫相互作用、組織常在免疫応答に焦点を当て、移植免疫学を免疫寛容と再生医療へと発展させています。本講演では、眼科移植免疫学の最新知見とその臨床応用についてご紹介いただきます。

抄録：

My research focuses on defining the immune mechanisms that regulate transplantation outcomes across ocular and extraocular tissues and translating these insights into regenerative and tolerance-inducing therapies. Using the eye as both a target and an immune-privileged model, my work has elucidated key innate and adaptive immune pathways governing graft survival and rejection in corneal, limbal stem cell, retinal, keratoprosthesis, and pancreatic cell transplantation. Particular emphasis is placed on high-risk inflammatory and vascularized environments, where angiogenesis, neuro-immune crosstalk, and tissue-resident immune responses critically shape graft fate.
Extending beyond classical transplantation, my laboratory investigates ocular graft-versus-host disease and immune-mediated ocular surface disorders as paradigms of chronic allo- and auto-inflammation. We integrate basic, translational, and clinical approaches to develop biomarkers, advanced imaging platforms, and predictive tools for immune monitoring, risk stratification, and personalized therapy. In parallel, we explore regenerative strategies—including stem cell–based approaches, tissue engineering, and immune modulation—to promote durable graft integration and functional recovery.
Collectively, this work advances a unifying framework in which transplantation immunology extends beyond graft survival to inform immune tolerance, regeneration, and restoration of vision and metabolic function.
