IAEA International Workshop on Nuclear Medicine for the Brain

 

Osaka University Hospital and the Graduate School of Medicine have formed an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that will advance international medical care.

One activity from this cooperation comes from Prof. Jun Hatazawa at the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Tracer Kinetics, who organized an international workshop on nuclear medicine in brain research held June 26-30. The workshop welcomed 31 experts in nuclear medicine from 17 Asian countries (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, and Thailand) Toshio Hirano, Director of the Japan National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology (QST), gave the plenary talk. Other talks discussed molecular imaging and research on brain diseases. Attendees were also give site tours of several nuclear medicine research sites in Osaka. Osaka University researchers provided training course of imaging analysis software.
